ABOUT THE FREE BIKING TOURS:

What does “FREE” mean?

The tour works under the free tour concept: The basis of this concept is that the client does not pay a set fee for the tour guide’s service. At the end of the tour it is common to leave a tip to the guide as a thank you for providing this tour.

In our free tours you only pay what you feel appropriate, based on how much you enjoyed the tour.

Who can participate?

Everyone can participate, but they have to know how to ride a bike.
The tours are suitable for all ages, but those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
For people who have just arrived in the city from low latitudes, it is recommended to wait a few days before taking the tour to get used to the altitude.

Where is the meeting point?

The meeting point is at the Casa del Río hostel.
It is located at Bajada del Padron 407 and Larga street.

What time should I be at the meeting point?

The Free Biking Tours start at 9:00 am.
We thank you for being at the Meeting Point 10 minutes before the tour starts.

I haven´t ride a bike in years or I don´t ride very often, can I participate in the tours?

Yes, you can!
You know what they say: “Riding a bike is something you never forget.”
Our tours are on flat, safe tracks most of the route is downhill and we travel 8 kilometers in total.

Do I need a reservation to participate in the tour?

Yes, it is recommended to make a reservation to guarantee your place on the tour, since availability is limited.

What should I bring to the tour?

It is recommended to bring comfortable, sports clothing, sunscreen, a bottle of water and a light jacket, preferably rainproof.

How long does the tour last?

The tour lasts approximately 3 hours, it can be a little more or less depending on the group.

What happens if it rains or there is bad weather?

In case of bad weather, we will notify you in advance if the tour must be canceled or rescheduled.

Does the tour include tourist stops?

Yes, the tours include stops at points of interest where the guide provides historical, natural and cultural information.

In what languages ​​is the tour available?

The tours are in English and Spanish, you have to choose the language when you fill out the reservation form.

ABOUT THE BIKES:

Are the bikes for these tour also free?

No, bikes are not free. If you don’t have a bike, you will have to rent one. Bike rental costs $10 and includes a mountain bike, helmet and lock.
When you are making your booking you’ll find the question – “do you need to rent bike (s)?” – You just have to click “yes”.

What type of bicycle do you rent?

We rent mountain bikes because some of the trails we go through are rugged and dirt.

Can I take my bike?

Yes, you can.
When you make your booking you’ll find the question – you need to rent bike (s)? – you just have to click “NO”. 
We recommend that you bring a helmet for protection and also a lock for tourist stops where we cannot enter by bicycle.

Can I rent a bike without joining the Free Walking Tour?

Yes, of course, you can rent a bicycle if you like to explore the city on your own.
It costs 10 USD for 4 hours and includes the bike, helmet and a lock.
To rent the bicycle you will need to leave an identification document as a guarantee. The rental is subject to availability of the bicycles.

BOOKING/CANCELLATION:

How far in advance should I book the tour?

Bookings can be made 24 hours in advance, but are always subject to the number of places and the number of bikes available. For this reason and because our groups have a small number of participants, we advise you to make your booking as far in advance as possible.

What is the booking process for the tours?

1. You have to fill out the reservation form with all your information and send it.
2. If we have spaces available you will receive a confirmation email and a message on WhatsApp. (Emails are not sent automatically, confirmations are done manually to ensure the best possible experience, because of this, response time can be up to 24 hours)
3. Get to know your local guide at the meeting point. He will help you to rent and adjust the bike and will share his knowledge and passion for Cuenca with you.

How can I cancel my reservation?

You should keep in mind that our tours are for a very restricted group of people, the groups are very small. For this reason, whenever you have a booking and can’t attend, you must send us an email (cuencabiketours@gmail.com) or write to us on WhatsApp (+593 97 882 1902) as far in advance as possible. If you don’t do this, you impeding the participation of others.

How can I change my booking date?

You have to send us an email (cuencabiketours@gmail.com) or write to us on WhatsApp (+593 97 882 1902) with that indication at least 48 hours in advance of the start date of the experience. You must inform your name, the booking number, how many people, the initial booking date and the new date.
